I played Rugby at Kent State University

Favorite sports memory as an athlete and or coach?
As an athlete, hitting a homerun off my former team in the roy Hobbs League playoffs. As a coach is was definitely last season’s win over Monroeville, 1-0. Entire team contributed and it brought us together as a team.

Why do you coach/teach?
I coach because I love seeing untapped potential develop and thrive. I love watching hesitant kids grow into confident young adults.

How are you staying active at home?
Playing catch with my sons, Mitchell and Matthew, in the yard. Also going for long walks with my family as much as possible.

Is there anything else you would like to share with the Oberlin High School Community?
My goal is to develop a program the community will be proud of. I grew up in Oberlin and even though I went to Elyria Catholic, the community means a great deal to me. There are so many great kids and great people in Oberlin and I consider it an honor to get to represent the school and community.

I have been married to Christy for 17 years. She is a music teacher in the Amherst school district. She received her bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Slippery Rock University and her Masters from Kent State. She is originally from Butler, PA (Yeah, all my in-laws are Steelers fans).

I also have two sons, Mitchell (12) and Matthew (10). Matt participates in wrestling, football and baseball (his goal is to play football at Notre Dame in college) and Mitchell participates in wrestling, football, basketball and track.
