The track teams have a very productive day at the district meet at Norwayne high school yesterday. For the Girls Angie Clement and Rosy Turner both advanced to finals on Friday. Angie qualified in the 100m dash with a time of 13.17 and in the 200m dash with a time of 27.57. Rosy qualified in the 800m with a time of 2:24.77.
The girls 4×100 and 4×200 relays also qualified for finals on Friday. Angie, Kaylianna Barbee, Liz Santiago and Nya Grady-Norman have the ran their best time of the year 53.25 to qualify third overall in the 4×100 relays and the also joined forces and ran 1:53.06 to qualify third overall in the 4×200 relay.
On the boys side both sprint relays also advanced to Friday’s final. The 4×100 team of Dorian Levine, Justin Mason, Jonathon Turner and Kurt Russell Jr. ran the third fastest start time in the prelims 45.39 to advance to finals. The 4×200 team swapped out Turner and added Tam Cadenhead ran a season best time of 1:34.72 to qualify 5th overall for the finals. Tam Cadenhead also ran a personal best time in the 400m dash of 53.82 and qualified for finals. Other notable performances came form Jack Freas in the 200m dash who ran a season best and second best time of the year for the team with a a 24.43.
The team is excited about Friday and the possibility of getting as many people qualified for the Regional meet next wee. Finish in the top four and we move on.
