The track season is off to a good start after competing in three meets.
Both the girls and boys finished second in the two conference triangular meets at Black River and Brooklyn. Then faced much stronger competition as they traveled to Amherst this past Thursday to compete at the Lorain Country invitational. The teams have been working hard with plans to peak at the conference meet in early May. Both teams are very young with the majority of the team being freshman and sophomores. If they stick with the program the team will really blossom in a few years.
The girls have been led on the distance side by senior Asta Rustad one of the best distance runner in the state. Othe sprint side by Angie Clement, who is having a spectacular start to her season and is currently one of the top sprinters in the conference. The boys have been led by senior sprinter Kurt Russell Jr. and senior new comer Justin Mason. They have teamed up to lead our 4×100 and 4×200 relays. Up next for the teams is the Brookside Invitational this Friday.
