Sophomore, Robert Bouchonville (132) extends his season another week by taking fifth at the Division III Sectional Wrestling Tournament this past weekend at Independence High School. Although he won the alternate spot, he is not guaranteed a spot in the tournament. Bouchonville will get a chance to wrestle if one of the place winners in his weight is unable to compete next week.
Teammate Reggie Bouchonville (126 pounds) ends his season with two losses and did not qualify for the District Tournament. He lost his first match to Newman (Columbia) the number one seed by a second period pin. He then dropped a close 5-2 decision to Jackson (B. River) in the consolation round.
Robert, seeded 8th, also lost his first match to the number one seed Watson (L.West) by a pin in 2:17. He then wrestled aggressively and won three matches in the wrestle backs. His first win was a come from behind decision over Zacharoyacz (B. River) 9-5 when he earned 6 points in the third period. His next victory was a close 8-7 decision when he scored a takedown for the win after trailing 7-6. He lost the consolation semi final match to Seyou (VASJ) by a 4:45 pin. In the fifth place match, Bouchonville took an early 5-0 lead with a takedown and near fall points. His opponent, Zindrowski (Trinity) chipped away at the lead to tie the score 6-6 at the end of regulation. With only 7 second left in the overtime period, Bouchonville scored a duck under takedown for the 8-6 victory.
Last season, after securing the alternate spot, Bouchonville had the opportunity to participate when another place winner could not wrestle. Bouchonville will be hoping for the same fortune this week. The District tournament will be held at Garfield Heights High School on Friday, March 3 and Saturday, March 4. Wrestling starts at 5:00 pm on Friday and 10:00 am on Saturday.
