Bright Spots at the PAC Championships

The Girls and Boys team competed in the Patriot Athletic conference meet Wednesday and Friday.

The Boys finished 8th and the girls finished 7th which are both improvements from last years finished when both teams were 9th.  Asta Rustad (Sr) was the only individual winner over the two day event.  She won the 1600m run and the 3200m run and anchored the 6th place 4×800 which included Rosy Turner (FR), Janea Johnson (SO) and Sandra Peralas (JR) and the 7th place 4×400 which included Leah Bratton (FR), Rosy Turner and Julia Malakar (FR).  Angie Clement lead the way for the sprinters by placing 3rd in the 100m dash with a time of personal record time of 12.92.  Angie also anchored the 2nd place 4×200 that ran 1:52.82.  The team included Liz Santiago (FR), Kayliana Barbee (FR) and Nya Grady-Norman.

That same foursome finished 4th in the 4×100 missing the podium by .12 seconds.  Leah Bratton also shined as she finished 7th in the open 400.

The boys were lead by track newbie Justin Mason.  Just ran personal best in both the 100 (11.60) and 200  (23.62) finishing 8th and 6th respectively.  Justine was also part of two exciting sprint relays that both Made the Podium.  The 4×200 relay was made up of seniors Tam Cadenhead, Dorian Levine, Justin Mason and Kurt Russell Jr.  They ran a season best time of 1:35.51 finishing 2nd.  Dorian, Justin an Kurt were joined by senior Journey Toole in the 4×100 relay that finished 3rd while running a season best time of 45.33.  First year runner Jonathon Turner ran a gutsy race and finished 5th with a season best time of 54.22.

Next up is the District meet at Norwayne.
