Oberlin names Mike Akers as Head Football coach after the unexpected medical resignation of Jesse Robinson. Mike has been coaching football for 28 years with stops as a Head Coach at Lorain, Brookside and Admiral King. Last season, he served as the Head Coach at Southview Middle School.

“We are excited to have Mike as our head coach and we look forward to his energy, passion and professionalism that he will bring to Oberlin.  This process was not ideal, but we feel we chose the right guy in the end”. Athletic Director, John Carter.

Mike is a graduate and former football player at Kent State University and holds a Master’s Degree in Multi Age (P-12) Physical Education. He currently works at Lorain City Schools.
